Hookah Maintenance
- To maintain freshness of your hookah shisha, store it an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
- Change the water in your glass vase for every smoking session- the water is the filter for the smoke!
- Blow through all of the hoses before and after each smoking session to clear out any smoke residue.
- Clean the clay bowl out after each smoking session.
- Clean your hookah stem frequently with the cleaning brush to remove smoke residue.
- When you place the foil tightly over the hookah bowl, make sure the shiny side is facing down so it will retain more heat from the charcoal.
- Wash your glass vase with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely.
- Occasionally, carefully rinse hoses with lukewarm water. Allow adequate drying time.
Cleaning Your Hookah
- After smoking, rinse base, then fill base almost to the brim with warm almost hot water, next add 2 heaping tablespoons of baking soda and stir as you add them. If the baking soda go's to the bottom of your base, shake the base while covering the top with your hand, other hand holds bottom of the base. If the water in the base won't shake good, let some of the water in the base out. USE CAUTION WHEN SHAKING!!! Its not that hard, just hold on very tight so it don't slip and bust apart. The reasons I say use baking soda because it's such a good deodorizer and cleaner. Your base will smell like new when you are done, smell it before to tell the difference.
- It is very easy; let the baking soda solution sit for at least 2 hours before draining. Now rinse the base a few times with warm-hot water, shakings is also recommended for good rinse. Now smell inside the base to see the difference from before washing. Next dry outside of base with a paper towel or clean cloth so your base doesn't have spots!
- Now for the stem or shaft, whatever you like to call yours. If you have a long Hookah pipe cleaner, good job. If not, unwind a wire clothes hanger and make it straight, then cut some rag strips and wrap around the hanger, Tie at the ends. It may take a few tries to get it right, but keep trying till you can get it and it fits in the stem.
- Make a thick paste with baking soda and a little water, mix it good. Now pour a little in the stem and put some on your stem cleaner and start cleaning and stem cleaner from both sides of the stem. Now put the water pressure on the sink on low so you can get the water inside the stem at an angle and turn the stem as you rinse. If you can't do that, make a funnel and pour some hot water a few times to wash out the stem, or use a real funnel if you got one.
Hose Cleaning
- If your hose is washable, we suggest rinsing out the hose in the sink. Once you wash it all out, take it outside and swing it around to get it dry and have the rest of the junk come out.
- f your hose isn't washable, which many are, try to blow on one end of the hose and have the junk get blown in the sink. Try it on both ends of the hose.
Bowl / Stem
- Soak it overnight in a vinegar/water solution, or an alcohol/water solution.
- Clean it with lemon juice. The acid helps clean, fresh scent, with a natural twist to it.
- Use baking soda to keep it clean.
- A scourer pad with some hot soapy water.
- Some people actually say clean it with Beer.
- Wash your glass vase with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely.
- Occasionally, carefully rinse hoses with lukewarm water. Allow adequate drying time.
- Orange Chronic and 420 Cleaner are great Non Toxic cleaners you can purchase at any local shop.
